HealthyCommunities

The key aim of the project is to strengthen the health literacy of adults from different social groups.

HEALTHY COMMUNITIES brings together expertise from education, health, and community work from four EU countries(DE,AT,IT,PL).

Together, we develop low-threshold health education programs and work with municipal institutions to develop action plans for localization in the district. As a link between the learning programs and potential users, we are installing a system of qualified guides who reach adults from different social groups and encourage them to participate.

In each community, a group of guides is set up who are located in the community and act as mediators in health education. In a further training course, they learn basic skills in health prevention, how to prepare and communicate customized information materials, and how to pass on tips and exercises for dealing with socio-psychological stress. They also acquire media skills for dealing safely with information (e.g. recognizing fake news) and thus strengthen their digital literacy. The guide model also strengthens socio-spatial networking.

In the framework of adult education, volunteers are supported and strengthened in their commitment through further training, and other interested volunteers and honorary staff are motivated to participate socially in health education and information.
